Haleigh is the newest account executive to join our Boston office! Now that she’s settled in, we thought it was high time she introduced herself properly.
What advice would you give to someone who is interested working in b2b tech PR and marketing?
Just take the plunge and don’t be intimidated – there’s no way to predict how you might feel about the work. I was nervous stepping into b2b tech PR after several years of non-profit and higher education work, but I’m glad took that chance. I’ve learned an incredible amount since I joined the lorries, and I know this was the right step for my career.
What skills are essential for your b2b PR role?
Openness, enthusiasm, and a healthy dose of modesty. I’m excited to learn from my clients and to truly understand their perspective on the industry. With openness – both to new ideas from clients or reporters and to new challenges at work – I can shape myself into a valuable strategic and tactical partner for my clients.
What is your favorite part of working in PR?
Honestly? The sourcing calls for bylines and pitches. There’s nothing more energizing than learning from someone who’s passionate about their expertise. I absolutely love learning from my clients.
What’s the best part of working at the lorries?
My favorite part of PR is learning from my clients, but the best part of working at RLYL is learning from the lorries! It’s rare to be surrounded by experts in your field 24/7, and having that community around just makes everything, from brainstorms to press releases, infinitely better.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Coffee after 4pm. It’s a warm, reassuring hug…that gives you jitters and keeps you up all hours.
What was your first/most unusual job?
I was a street performer and puppeteer at the Michigan Renaissance Festival through high school. If you’ve met me, this probably won’t come as a surprise.
What industry jargon do you want to ban?
The word “innovation” has been overused into meaninglessness. Go beyond innovation, and instead articulate the exact way you’re changing an industry.
What’s something not many people know about you?
I’ve been lucky enough to set foot on every continent except Antarctica. Unrelated – anyone planning to visit Antarctica and have extra space in their suitcase?
