The dust has settled and our London and LA teams have arrived back into their respective PR HQs after another successful and action packed IBC 2016 in Amsterdam. Canals were cataloged and the labyrinthine halls of the RAI exhibition center were explored yet again.
Along with the one and only IP, virtual reality had a strong showing this year at the show along with HDR and 4K, as was to be expected. Some rather cool tech was on show this year, particularly in the Future Zone hall… So I traveled to the future to find some of the hidden gems of the show.
Now I know what you’re thinking. Virtual Reality is totally the next big thing, but how do you film 360 VR while on the move at a concert or out in the wild with man eating cheetah’s about? The answer was on show in the Future Zone hall! I had a chat with the lads at Motion Impossible about their innovative Mantis360 remote dolly – the world’s first solution for remotely moving and stabilising 360 & VR cameras. Pretty cool stuff as the video below shows. Judgement day looms… The machines will soon take over!
Another rather interesting exhibitor in the Future Zone hall this year was Pufferfish (great name), who create innovative spherical displays powered by projectors. The result? A crazy sphere that you can display 360 video on! Want to explore the oceans on a 360 sphere using touch control? Well now you can. Check out the PufferSphere below!
