Christy Sievert is one of two brave account managers who joined our Austin office when it opened earlier this year. We’ll let her introduce herself…

What advice would you give to someone who is interested working in b2b tech PR and marketing?

It’s a true adventure. There are always new areas to explore, so, stay open and curious, even as your day fills up.

What skills are essential for your b2b PR role?

It’s essential to have curiosity and appreciation for the future we’re building for ourselves. There are people creating fascinating things in the world of tech and having interesting and necessary conversations about its development. Having an interest and appreciation of what tech is trying to do will make you more creative.

What is your favourite part of working in PR?

My favourite part of PR is when a story finally lands and, not only have we moved the conversation forward in a meaningful way, but we also got amazing coverage for our client.

What’s the best part of working at the lorries?

Working across time zones and countries – all from the comfort of home! It’s a really fun experience.

How would you describe your day job to a child?

I get really excited about stuff and tell people about until they get excited too – and we all talk about it together.

What was your first job / most unusual job?

On a whim, I became a line cook at a Vietnamese restaurant called the Pig & the Lady. It was an absolute blast, and I gained some great chopping skills.

Which industry jargon do you want to ban?

I think ‘circle back’ had its time and can be retired. I’m also pretty confused as to why everyone is saying ‘out of pocket’ when they’re out of office. When did we agree on this?

Which three people, dead or alive, would you choose to be on your team in a zombie apocalypse?

Easy. Queen Elizabeth I, Beyonce, and Katie Couric.
